'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS ... BUT WILL SANTA APPEAR?
December 5-6, 2009
DIRECTOR'S NOTES
For
many of us, the holiday season marks the beginning of a race for time.
We enter a marathon of baking, decorating, shopping, mailing, wrapping
and trimming. We get tangled up in tree lights, ribbons and bows,
tissue paper and tape. Trying to beat the clock leaves us exhausted and
our spirits depleted. But once we stop the Christmas countdown and
allow ourselves to see the season through the eyes of little children,
our spirits are revived. With awe and wonder, children look at the
glowing lights on rooftops and the glittering stars atop trees. They
embrace the magic of the season. Children are ready to open their
hearts to love, to believe in Santa, to imagine his toy shop, to dream
of surprises. The spirit of the season lives in the children. Today’s
performance by the children captures this wondrous spirit.
